Currently, the Commission is working on a program that will involve Operation MVP Christmas Stockings. We hope to give these stockings to children of our nation's fallen, as well as selling them to the general public.
"Operation MVP" is a program initiated by the Commission in 2002 to provide humor and a sense of fun to deployed service members and wounded troops to boost their morale. In 2005 a special greeting card was attached to a 24" Snoopy doll (as the WWI Flying Ace) which reads "You are America's MVPs - Most Valuable Patriots." The Snoopy doll was sent to deployed units and military ships around the world.
On June 2, 2005, for "Operation MVP," the Commission arranged for Sgt. Peter Damon - who lost both arms in Iraq - to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park.
